It was recently brought to my attention that I’ve never told you about the property. The property that started this whole endeavor. How very absentminded and so like me.:)-
Our property is just over 11 acres, I think I’ve mentioned that before. It’s a pie shaped piece of the larger rectangle shaped property the previous owners held. It’s mostly gently rolling pasture land dotted with poplars to shade the future livestock. It produced 18 bales of hay that I’ve been assured is good hay.
The house sets about 300 feet from the road on a small hill and is surrounded by trees. The pines to the west and north will shield the house from cold winds in the winter. While the deciduous trees to the south keep the house shaded in the summer and will allow for a full exposure to the southern sun in the winter when the leaves are gone.
To the east about 300 feet is a spring fed creek and a fairly busy road. Luckily the trees do a good job of drowning out the sound from the road. We only hear the occasional Harley. Unfortunately, I have no pictures of the creek because it is protected by a dense crop of poison ivy that I’ve no desire to mess with. Mr. Awesome and I will create a path to the creek next spring before the vegetation gets dense.
Don’t miss the next post, we might start working on the roof. Click the small symbol in bottom right hand corner to follow and posts will be delivered directly to your email.
